Bull Island (In Progress)
This project looks at the landscape of Bull Island in Dublin. The island was formed inadvertently due to the construction of a sea wall about 200 years ago. It's the most biologically protected site in the country and also an important recreational area for the people of Dublin. Im interested in how people and nature interact on the island and in the wide open landscapes which seem remote but are actually part of Dublin city.
This project looks at interpretive signage or nature boards in Ireland. I travelled around the country over the course of 3 years photographing sections and fragments of the boards. The signs are hand painted by various regional wildlife artists and I was drawn to the human vision of nature depicted on the signs.
