Bull Island, a nature reserve on the Northside of Dublin, emerged over 200 years ago due to changes in currents in Dublin Bay following the construction of the North Bull Wall. It’s now one of our most important nature reserves, serving as a sanctuary for wildlife and people within the city. A combination of natural and human-made processes, still combine to build up and wear down its features to this day. I wanted to capture a sense of what it feels like to be immersed in this landscape and document the traces of our endeavours, set against the enduring rhythms of the natural world. This work will be published as a TLP zine by Photo Ireland in August 2024.
